The domain transfer process is straightforward. Follow these five steps and your domain will be fully under HarmonWeb management within a few days.
Log into your current registrar and unlock your domain for transfer. Most registrars have a domain lock or transfer protection setting in account or domain settings. Also confirm that your registered contact email address is up to date, as transfer notifications will be sent there.
Request the EPP code, also called an authorization code or transfer key, from your current registrar. This code is required to authorize the transfer and proves that you are the domain owner initiating the move. Most registrars provide this instantly via email or through the account dashboard.
Contact our team through the HarmonWeb contact page or your account, enter your domain name and provide your authorization code. We initiate the transfer request on your behalf and handle the technical submission to the registry.
You will receive a confirmation email at your registered contact address from either HarmonWeb or the domain registry. Open the email and approve the transfer request to allow the process to proceed. Approving promptly speeds up completion.
Once approved, the transfer processes within five to seven days depending on your domain extension and registry policies. Your domain is then fully managed through HarmonWeb, your DNS settings are preserved, and your registration period is extended by one year in most cases.
A few important points to review before initiating a domain transfer to ensure the process goes smoothly.
Domains must be at least 60 days old from the date of registration or most recent transfer to be eligible for transfer. Domains that are under a dispute, legal hold, or registry lock are not eligible until those conditions are resolved.
Most domain transfers include a one-year extension added to your current registration period. This means transferring does not cost you any existing registration time, your expiry date moves forward by a full year from its current value.
Your DNS records are preserved throughout the transfer process. Your website, email, and other services continue to operate normally during and after the transfer. We coordinate the process carefully to minimize any risk of service disruption.
